Serious Request Live and Other Glass Houses

Serious Request started in the Netherlands in 2004 and run via 3FM public radio station, collecting money in cooperation with Red Cross. From then on the format expanded towards Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden and could also reach Bulgaria in the forth coming years. Serious Request reached Kenya – as the first African country – in 2008. Every year in every country three DJ / presenters are locked up for 6 days without food, focusing on a social issue. Over the years issues like refugees / IDPs and malaria have gained a massive amount of attention and annually some $15 Million has been collected via audience and corporate participation. The Cause: For six days, the DJ’s focused on mothers who are affected by war and conflict. In at least thirty-five countries in the world, millions of mothers are hit by war- or conflict situations. They are at risk of losing their partners by violence, the risk to be physically damaged, the risk to be sexually abused, the risk to lose their house and the risk to see their family fall apart. These women are alone in taking care of their families.

Bulgaria opposition’s horror….. as Standard & Poor’s Ratings Service confirmed – PM Borissov

Standard & Poor’s Ratings Service confirmed its long- and short-term foreign and local currency sovereign credit ratings on Bulgaria at ‘BBB/A-3’ with a stable outlook. The ratings reflect “the government’s strong track record of appropriate fiscal policy and low gross and net general government debt,” the ratings company said today in a statement. S&P expects Bulgaria’s economic recovery “to lose steam in 2012, and growth to decline to 1.5 percent, from around 2.0 percent in 2011,” reflecting an economic slowdown with Bulgaria’s main trading partners in the European Union. S&P rates Bulgaria’s long-term sovereign debt level with Russia and Lithuania. Bulgaria’s sovereign debt is rated Baa2 by Moody’s and BBB- by Fitch Ratings. Bulgaria, the EU’s poorest country in terms of economic output per capita, withstood the global recession in 2009 without an international bailout. Source: Bloomberg News Agency However, this news continues the positive economic trend of Bulgaria which undoubtedly has been influenced by the government and which makes Bulgaria attractive as a country to invest into Bulgarian Houses, as is being witnessed by neighbouring Greeks and Romanians, whose vehicles are now a common site around the municipality of Veliko Tarnovo, buying cheap houses for sale in Veliko Tarnovo! Moody’s (the international rating agency) have commended Bulgaria over its coherent fiscal orderliness. “Despite a large slippage in the 2009 budget position during the global and domestic recession, the Bulgarian government has since reverted to a tight fiscal policy stance, implying a measurable improvement in creditworthiness that in July 2011 led to the only sovereign rating upgrade in the European Union since the global crisis began in 2007,” according to a report of analysts Kristin Lindow and Renzo Merino in Moody’s Weekly Credit Outlook. Bulgaria – Cost of living

Bulgarian traditional salad with feta cheese- shopska salata - shopska salad

When buying a Bulgarian Property, one of the most common questions that buyers ask is how much everyday things cost. The answer, as always, is as much or as little as you want and is totally dependent on your lifestyle and whether you want to adapt to the way of life in Bulgaria. Bulgarian food is very much like Greek and Turkish cuisine with grilled or barbequed meats and salads during the summer months and hearty stews during the winter.  Tomatoes and cucumbers seem to be the mainstay of any Bulgarian meal, being the main ingredients of the obligatory ‘Shopka’ salad which is topped off with Сирене (sirenay) cheese – a mild creamy cheese akin to Feta.  Yoghurt is also a firm favourite in Bulgaria and is an ingredient in many dishes, the most famous being Таратор (Tarator), a cold soup made from yoghurt, water and cucumbers.    Another component of the Bulgarian diet is the sausage in all their various shapes and forms.  Dried Lukanka and Sudjuk sausage, usually eaten finely sliced as part of an appetizer or meze. The skinless Kebabche sausage eaten grilled, baked or fried, on their own or with chips.  Fresh, cooked or smoked sausages, in fact every variety of sausage you could [...]

New campaign, headlines that Bulgaria is a real contender as in investment destination

It’s deeds we need, not words a letter written to Lyuben Karavelov on January 27, 1872 by Vasil Levsky. The Ministry of Economy in Bulgaria are emulating these wise words this month after it has announced the launching of a campaign on 1 December to promote Bulgaria as an investment destination abroad. Business opportunities in Bulgaria will get a lift from this promotion and the current Commercial Property in Bulgaria should get a welcome injection of interest! The first event is going to be a meeting with International business Directors and Senior Managers in London. The ongoing road tour will also hope to attract investors from the USA, China, Germany, Japan, Russia, France, Austria and Belgium. The investment sectors are many and include food, agriculture, logistics, IT, outsourcing, spa and wellness tourism. The initiative is expected to be ongoing during 2012 and 2013.
